Chanavat Uahwatanasakul to Lead Central Pattana’s Next Phase of Sustainable Urban Growth
[Bangkok] Central Pattana Plc., Thailand’s leading retail-led mixed-use real estate developer, today outlined the leadership vision of its new President and Chief Executive Officer Chanavat Uahwatanasakul as the company enters its next phase of growth that focuses on sustainable urban development, future cities, and long-term value creation.
Building on the Chirathivat family’s legacy of shaping some of Thailand’s most significant commercial and urban districts, Chanavat brings more than two decades of experience in real estate development, retail, and strategic business transformation. His leadership reflects a long-term commitment to creating destinations that drive economic growth, enhance quality of life, and strengthen the competitiveness of cities and communities.
Chanavat will lead Central Pattana’s next chapter from a position of strength, building on the company’s 45-year track record, deep consumer insights, large-scale development expertise, and extensive network of business partners. The company aims to further strengthen its role as a platform that connects businesses, communities, and cities while creating sustainable value for Thailand’s economy and future generations.
“Central Pattana has always believed that meaningful development extends beyond physical infrastructure,” Chanavat explained. “Our responsibility is to create opportunities for businesses, communities, and cities to grow sustainably together. By combining development expertise, strategic partnerships, and innovation, we will continue advancing our purpose of ‘Imagining better futures for all’ while contributing to Thailand’s long-term prosperity and global competitiveness.”
A Leader Behind Landmark Urban Developments
Chanavat has spent more than 20 years with Central Pattana and Central Group, playing a pivotal role in many of the company’s most significant projects and long-term growth initiatives.
Among his notable achievements was leading the transformation of CentralWorld into one of Bangkok’s premier lifestyle and commercial destinations. He also helped pioneer new retail formats through such projects as Central Eastville, Thailand’s first semi-outdoor shopping center, while advancing sustainability-focused developments including Central Westville and Central Krabi. These projects earned Central Pattana the Eco-Friendly Mall of the Year award at the Retail Asia Awards for two consecutive years, in 2025 and 2026.
Most recently, Central Park received the New Mall of the Year award at the Retail Asia Awards 2026. Projects developed under Chanavat’s leadership have also been recognized by leading international organizations, including the World Architecture Festival, MIPIM Asia, and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), underscoring Central Pattana’s growing presence on the global stage.
Building an Ecosystem for Shared Growth
A key priority for Central Pattana’s next phase is evolving beyond traditional real estate development to become a platform that connects people, businesses, partners, and cities through an integrated ecosystem designed to create long-term shared value.
“The strength of Central Pattana has always come from the network of stakeholders who grow alongside us – customers, tenants, partners, investors, and local communities,” Chanavat said. “Our focus is to strengthen those connections, create new opportunities, and enable sustainable growth across the ecosystem. At the same time, we are accelerating AI and Digital Transformation to deliver seamless experiences for our customers, enhance operational efficiency across the organization, and work closely with our tenants and partners throughout the ecosystem to build a future-ready organization.
Advancing Thailand’s Urban Future
Central Pattana continues to execute its THB 110 billion five-year investment plan (2026-2030), one of the largest private-sector development programs in Thailand, focused on projects designed to support the next generation of urban growth.
The pipeline includes a 750-rai mixed-use development in Rangsit, envisioned as one of Thailand’s largest future urban districts. The company is also advancing Central GR9, which aims to strengthen Rama 9 as Bangkok’s next central business district, and The Central District, a large-scale development that will transform the Ladprao–Phaholyothin corridor into a major urban hub in northern Bangkok.
As Central Pattana enters its next stage of growth, the company is leveraging its development expertise, consumer insights, strategic partnerships, and digital technologies to build integrated ecosystems that support businesses, communities, and cities, while reinforcing its ambition to become one of the world’s leading urban lifestyle and mixed-use development platforms.
Chanavat holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, graduate degrees in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
